Empowering female artists, agency and leadership in Australian Theatre.
The Chair’s Group is Darlinghurst Theatre Company’s new female donor circle that supports:
- Australian female playwrights to have their works developed and produced;
- Female artists to develop their careers, becoming future artistic leaders;
- The production of shows that champions female-led stories and voices.
Up to 20 women who share DTC’s passion for female excellence in the arts are invited to join the Chair’s Group in 2019 for the year 2020. Led by Chair Vicki Middleton, we will hold four to five key events throughout the year, bringing the Chair’s Group members together to attend shows, play readings, talks and events as well as hold our annual dinner. Together we’ll discuss and debate how we can empower future female leaders in Australian theatre. Throughout the year donors will also receive exclusive updates on the projects we support and hear straight from those artists.
Our aim is to raise $30,000 through a circle of supportive women committing to making donations of $1000 and above each year. In 2020 this will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Creative Partnership Australia, through their Plus 1 funding scheme, raising $60,000 in total to support female voices and stories on the Darlinghurst Theatre Company stage.
